How long does the Amazon affiliate cookie last?
Short answer
Twenty four hours. A tap opens a session, and a purchase inside that session is attributed to you. If the buyer puts the item in the cart during those hours, that item stays attributable for eighty nine days more. Since April of 2026 the commission applies to the exact variant of the product you linked.
Three numbers, and the one people get wrong
The session also ends early when the buyer taps somebody else's link, because the last one wins. That is why a link sitting in a profile for a week can still pay nothing at all.
- Twenty four hours: the session a tap opens. This is the one that decides most of your commissions.
- Eighty nine days: only for an item put in the cart inside that session, and only that item.
- The variant: since April of 2026, the size and colour you linked, not whatever else the buyer picks.
What it means after a short video
Somebody who watches at midnight and buys three days later pays nobody. There is nothing to fix there, it is the window. What it changes is how you read a slow day: the sale you never saw is often a session that ran out, not a video that failed.
And the hundred tracking identifiers
Amazon caps tracking identifiers at a hundred per account, so one per video is impossible at any real scale. Attribution on Amazon has to be built per campaign or per category, and the screen says which precision you lose when it is.
What people actually ask
Does the twenty four hours start again if they tap twice?
- A new tap opens a new session. The last link tapped before the order is the one that gets the credit.
Is the cart exception really ninety days?
- It is eighty nine days after the session, for an item already in the cart. It is not a ninety day cookie on everything, which is how it usually gets repeated.
